Psychotherapy and counselling services are not covered by OHIP but can be claimed as a medical expense for tax purposes. Please check with your private insurance provider to see if psychotherapy delivered by a Registered Psychotherapist is covered by your plan. Be sure to understand the procedure for reimbursement, verify if you need a physician’s referral, what psychological services are covered by your policy, and if your insurer reimburses a percentage fee per visit or set amount.
Sessions are $175/hour for individuals and $200/hour for couples sessions. I also offer sessions on a sliding scale, please email me for more details. I accept PayPal, cheques, cash, and wire transfers.
There is no standard level of quantity or frequency when it comes to therapy sessions. Trust your own sense of how often you want to come in, for how long, and discuss this with your therapist. This can change over time and you can adjust as needed.
Each situation is different and you will decide what best meets your needs at the time of your session. Sometimes you'll find out after the fact, if you meet weekly you may notice it is too much, or if you meet bi-weekly you may notice that it is not enough for your current needs. It is common to want to meet weekly at first and then taper down to monthly with time.
We require a minimum of 36 hours notice in order for you to avoid paying for a scheduled session.
The subtle differences can be confusing. In short, counselling is a more direct, short-term approach to dealing with specific areas or situations in your life. Whereas, psychotherapy is a deeper and more engaged process of inner exploration and healing.
Please email me to set up our first appointment. Future appointments can be scheduled with the online booking system once you’ve had your first session.
